RISE · Residential Infrastructure for Sporting Events

RISE

RISE proposes permanent family housing beside New Copley station, designed to host athletes first and become the first residential core of a growing neighbourhood.

01 — The proposal

Permanent from the beginning

RISE is a model athletes village built around permanent homes. A long-life structure, façade, stairs, lifts, fire systems and main services support different uses over time. Bathrooms, service risers and drainage are permanent from day one. Internal partitions, storage and plug-in kitchens can change as the building moves from athlete accommodation to family housing.

New Copley, with Old Copley preserved

The proposal places RISE in relation to New Copley station on the Wuthering Wall Metro Line. Old Copley is a distinct settlement to preserve. A green buffer, parkland and the relationship between existing settlement, station and new homes are central to the concept.

A shared building utility

RISE references Building Volume Utility, the shared asset-locked regional utility model. Building charges cover capital repayment together with maintenance and repairs. Once the capital is fully repaid, its charge ends; building maintenance and repairs continue. Charge amounts and the repayment schedule have not been specified.
